POSITION: Agriculture Science Teacher
LOCATION: Pewitt High School
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience, education, and background
CONTRACT DAYS: 220
Position Summary: Responsible for teaching students about agicultural subjects including horticulture, animal science, and floral design. Collaborate and share responsibilities with the agriculture faculty to strengthen, expand, and excel the local FFA chapter program.
Position Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Opportunity to teach dual-credit with master's degree
Licenses/Other:
Appropriate State of Texas Teaching Certificate
Clear and valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License
CDL Class B plus Passenger (P) Endorsement & School Bus (S) Endorsement
Illustrative Duties:
- Expert in assigned teaching area
- Mentoring students as part of a team of FFA advisors and coordinating competitions; assist with barn and livestock management
- Oversees Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAE)
- Demonstrates skills in budget management, including proper allocation of funds, and maintenance of accurate financial records in alignment with district regulations
- Builds effective relationships with students, parents, and industry partners
- Creates an enriching hands-on learning environment, resulting in student portfolios illustrating real-world connections and preparation for employment
